I began "In Memoriam" in the fall of 2018 as I was admiring the shapes of the falling leaves. I found variations between leaves, even from the same tree very interesting. But feeling a sense of loss with their immanent decay I decided to record their shapes, their ghosts, on paper. I soaked the leaves individually in water until they began to exude their tannins. I then placed the leaves on paper, under weight. The resulting prints I assembled and boxed- 100 leaves per year, or about the number of days in the fall. In 2022 I decided to bind the year's leaves into a book and have continued creating books for 2023, 2024, and now in process, 2025. "In Memoriam" is an on-going project.
